  1. World Lung Cancer Day is annually observed on 1 August to raise awareness about the deadly disease, its causes and the treatment and encourage more research on it to break the stigma around the disease.
  2. Muslim Women’s Rights Day is annually observed across India on 1 August to celebrate the enactment of the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019, which prohibits the practice of triple talaq in India.
  3. World FinTech Day is annually observed across the globe on 1 August to celebrate and recognize financial technology and its transformative impact on the global financial industry.
  4. National Mountain Climbing Day is celebrated on 1 August every year by the enthusiastic citizens of the United States.
  5. A three-judge bench led by Justice B R Gavai has granted an extension to the term of SK Mishra, the Director of the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) until 15 September, 2023.
  6. Kanpur Jail will launch a radio station for prisoners on 15 August, on the occasion of Independence Day with inmates doubling up as jockeys.
